Reliable and case specific country of origin information often plays an important role in taking quality decisions on refugee status. It can help verify an applicant's claim by providing objective background on his or her testimony. It can also provide the decision maker with the background knowledge to understand the peculiarities of conditions specific to the applicant's country of origin which may otherwise appear inconsistent or implausible.
IRA-INC's Documentation Center was established to provide country of origin information and case law (i.e. decisions from administrative and judicial bodies which granted asylum or other forms of protection) which can be used to support Iranian refugee claims. In addition to publicly accessible English language documents, the Center holds a wide collection of Farsi language documents, i.e. national legislation, court judgments, human rights related reports and news, law magazines, law books, academic papers, prison memoirs, and documentary films.
